Riskware

Riskware — this category includes ordinary programs (some of which are freely sold and widely used for legitimate purposes) that, nevertheless, in the hands of an attacker can cause harm to the user (cause destruction, blocking, modification, or copying of information, disrupt the operation of computers or computer networks).

In the list of programs in the Riskware category, you can find commercial remote administration utilities, IRC client programs, dialer programs, file downloading programs, computer system activity monitors, password management utilities, as well as numerous internet servers for FTP, Web, Proxy, and Telnet services.

All these programs are not malicious in themselves, but they have functionality that can be used by attackers to cause harm to users.

The choice of whether to detect such programs or not lies with the user. By default, in Kaspersky Lab antivirus products, Riskware detection is disabled.

You have no reason to worry if such a program is installed on your computer by you or your network administrator.
