ExtractNow – the simplest unarchiver that could possibly be developed. The main task of the utility is unpacking archives, direct extraction of files to a specified folder. ExtractNow does not support creating archives.
The process of extracting files from an archive is also as simple as possible. To do this, just drag and drop them into the open program window or right-click the file and select the corresponding tab from the Explorer drop‑down list.
Before you start working with ExtractNow, we recommend adjusting the settings to your needs; this will make using the utility easier and save a lot of time in the future. At first glance, it may seem that the archiver lacks sufficient functionality since it cannot create archive files, but that's just at first glance. In fact, the program has impressive potential and can simultaneously unpack multiple archives, which will be useful for those who constantly handle large amounts of archived data.
When you open the program settings, a catalog consisting of 8 tabs appears:
- General (General settings) – on this tab you can set the main parameters; more precisely, the general behavior of the window when opening, the specified actions of the archiver when the program starts, and sound feedback for performed operations;
- Destination (Destination path) – on this tab you can set the folder, at the root of the directory, where all files to be unarchived will be extracted by default;
- Post Extraction (After extraction) – options on this tab allow you to specify an action the program should perform after extracting files from an archive. For example, open the folder with the extracted file, delete the current archive, etc.;
- Explorer (File Explorer) – allows you to set individual options for different file types, such as text documents, images, audio;
- Drag&Drop (Drag and Drop) – configures the program's response to dragging archives into the dialog window;
- Password (Password) – enables manual password entry if it is not set by default;
- Monitor (Monitoring) – on this tab you can specify a folder, a directory where the program will constantly monitor changes with archives. Optionally, you can set automatic operations that ExtractNow will perform on each archive that appears in this folder;
- External (External module) – on this tab you can link the archiver with other programs, for example, another archiver that can extract formats not originally supported by ExtractNow.
