KeePass is a password manager with powerful functionality. Passwords and other secret information in KeePass are stored in perfectly protected databases, and all information in it can be conveniently sorted into groups. The database can be printed or converted to other formats (HTML, TXT, CSV, XML...). KeePass is easily portable and does not need to be installed.
Currently, versions of KeePass for Windows are developed in 2 directions:
- Classic Edition – version 1.26 from 12.07.2013, lightweight.
- Professional Edition - cross-platform version 2.24 from 3.11.2013 with extended functionality, works without recompilation on Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X, however it requires .NET Framework version 2.0 or higher, or Mono version 2.6 or higher.
The functionality of KeePass can be extended with plugins — third-party modules. Plugins are available on the KeePass home page (import/export of various data formats, database backup, automation, integration, etc.). Keep in mind that plugins may pose a security risk to KeePass, since they are created by independent developers and have full access to its databases.
