So, let's talk about what methods should be used to solve the problem with computer speed. First of all, of course, this is defragmentation of fragmented areas of the hard drive and checking it for bad sectors. Defragmenting an HDD is simple - just run the Windows defragmentation wizard, it will be quite enough.
However, you will have to work hard to find bad sectors on the HDD. We advise you to use the Victoria program, which runs when the computer starts. If you do not have such a program or do not know how to use it, it is better to use standard Windows tools.
Also, the speed of Windows is affected by the clutter of the registry. It's simple here, install the cCleaner program and run a search for errors and faults in the registry, then fix them and you're done. This procedure should be repeated at least once a month, and preferably every week, if not every day.
Also, this program has a wonderful feature for cleaning the hard drive from all kinds of junk. Thus, by running the HDD cleaning wizard of the cCleaner program once or twice a week, you will clear about 300-500MB of space on your hard drive. These will be files completely unnecessary for Windows, Browser Cache files, history files, cookies, and much more.

However, all these are computer maintenance operations, that is, maintaining it in a stable state. What to do if the computer is already freezing, slowing down, etc., how to restore its former speed?
The best method is to reinstall the operating system, however, if you do not have this option, for example, important files are stored on the HDD that you are afraid to lose and which for some reason cannot be written to a disk or other storage medium - no problem, you can use other methods.
First, give up unnecessary visual effects that Windows uses by default, especially when it comes to Aero effects that appeared in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Such effects significantly reduce computer speed.
For those who do not know how to remove unnecessary effects, here are the instructions: Open computer properties, go to "Advanced system settings", open the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Settings" button in the "Performance" section.
Now go to the "Visual Effects" tab and voila - you are on the visual effects settings panel. We advise you to click the "Adjust for best performance" button and save the changes. If the appearance of your operating system is important to you, click the "Custom" button and enable 3 main visual effects, namely the effect of using styles for windows, the effect of smoothing screen font irregularities, and the effect of showing thumbnails instead of icons.

Also, you can disable unnecessary programs from startup, this will significantly speed up Windows startup. This is done in the cCleaner program, or in the standard Windows program called msconfig, which can be launched by typing the command "start msconfig" in CMD, or simply by typing the word "msconfig" in the "Run" window of the operating system's Start panel.
