Balabolka - a free application designed to read aloud electronic texts. When using a human voice, any speech synthesizers installed on the PC can be used. Playback is controlled using standard controls found in any multimedia program (stop, play, pause).
The program provides: reading aloud text from the clipboard, viewing text from PRC, AZW3, DOC, CHM, AZW, DjVu, RTF, EPUB, HTML, FB2, LIT, ODT, MOBI, PDF formats. Adjusts color and font; controls reading from the system tray or hotkeys; reads text typed on the keyboard; checks spelling; splits a text file into several; searches for homographs. "Balabolka" can remove hyphenation marks from the end of lines in the text, which avoids stuttering during reading aloud.
Texts can be saved as audio files in OGG, MP3, WAV, MP4, WMA formats. The application works with various SAPI (Microsoft Speech API) voice packages. You can change the timbre and speed of speech. "Balabolka" can save the text that is spoken by the PC voice when reading an LRC file or in ID3 tags inside an MP3 audio file. When playing this audio file in a media player, the text will be displayed synchronously (like song lyrics for audio files).
