Govorilka - a small speech synthesizer program that performs voice playback of text reading. The synthesizer requires a language engine with a pre-recorded narrator's voice. The program reads aloud text in any language with any voice installed in the program. Records the text to an MP3 file.
Functionality of Govorilka:
- Voice playback of text reading.
- Records the read text into *.WAV, *.MP3 sound files at high speed, splitting the file into fragments of specified sizes.
- Adjusting voice pitch and reading speed.
- Auto-scrolling texts so the reading fragment is always visible (speech tracking). The read text can be highlighted with color.
- Supports user-expandable pronunciation dictionaries, where pronunciation of phrases and individual words is easily corrected.
- Plays large files in Windows and DOS encodings.
- Reads text from HTML and Microsoft®Word files.
- The volume of readable texts is up to ~2 GB.
- The program remembers the cursor position and texts when it is closed.
Govorilka takes care of users' vision. You can listen to the text of a book from your PC screen instead of reading it, and also listen to the pronunciation of expressions and words in foreign languages. Books can be quickly recorded to MP3 and played on an MP3 player. Govorilka will assess the PC's capabilities and teach it to speak.
Govorilka is an experimental program. Its creation is the embodiment of ideas for applying speech synthesis on a PC. It was originally intended for home use and for programmers' experiments (we never came up with a name, so it remained Govorilka). When it turned out that it surpassed existing programs for text-to-speech playback in functionality and convenience at that time, a web page was created for it on the Internet.,
