One of Opera's best products is the Opera browser (download free), particularly Opera Mobile. This browser differs from others in that it displays web pages as they should be.
Thus, it is safe to say that the Opera Mobile browser holds one of the leading positions in the mobile browser market. However, the standard settings of Opera Mobile only allow you to change zoom, configure cookies, images, and that's it. These settings are, of course, insufficient for more precise and detailed browser configuration. That is why we will now discuss how to configure the Opera Mobile browser in more detail.
So, to access the advanced Opera Mobile settings panel, intended only for experienced users, launch the browser, erase the standard "www" in the address bar, and type "opera:config" there, then load the page. A page with multiple tabs will open; clicking on them reveals numerous settings items, which we will now discuss.
Author Display Mode
In this tab, user style settings are set.
*Author CSS
- - Allows using the author's cascading style sheet. We recommend unchecking the box.
*Author Font and Colors
- - Allows using the author's fonts and specified colors. We recommend unchecking the box.
*User CSS
- - Enables the use of user CSS style. Enable only if you need to change the design of some sites.
*User Font and Colors
- - Enables the use of user fonts and colors. Decide for yourself whether to check the box.
*User Link Settings
- - Enables user settings for link display. Decide for yourself whether to check the box.
*CSS Generic Font Family
- - Font settings for cascading style sheets
*Cache
- - Allows configuring the cache in Opera (Only configure if you understand it)
Colors
In this tab, you can configure all colors used in Opera Mobile.
Here, specify colors only in hexadecimal notation, for example, #ABCDEF. Colors are encoded using the RGB (Red Green Blue) system, where the color is divided into 3 groups of 2 digits each, namely AB CD EF.
In the RGB system, this would be 171,205,239, since 16*16 = 256, and as you know, each RGB component can take a value no greater than 255 (from 0 to 255). So, to make white color, you would specify 255,255,255 which in hexadecimal color coding equals #FFFFFF. And black is 0,0,0, similarly in hex - #000000.
So, let's continue.
Developer Tools
- Here, developer tools are configured.
Disk Cash
- In this tab, you can configure the disk cache; the settings are similar to the cache settings.
Extensions
A tab that contains extended settings with display scripts. We recommend configuring this tab only if you know exactly what you are doing.
Fonts
- Here, fonts are configured.
Install
This tab can be skipped, just like the EPOC tab we already skipped. We do this because these tabs have practically no settings, and they don't work.
Link
Here, the display types for different kinds of links are configured. Nothing special here.
Multimedia
Here, settings for displaying and working with multimedia are available. It is better to disable all items present here, as they consume the device's RAM.
Network
Allows changing connection settings. We recommend not touching anything here, as nothing good will come of it.
OEM
As with the previous skipped items, we will also skip this one because there is nothing useful or interesting here.
Perfomance
Here you can configure "performance". We put this word in quotes because actually, here connection and methods of working with this connection are configured.
Conclusion
That's probably all. Now you know which settings item in Opera Mobile is responsible for what, and you know how to access the advanced browser settings page.
Good luck!
